Hello, digital world, I’m Duncan, and I started out on the internet in the early 2000s where:
- Finding information involved “asking Jeeves”
- People were buying pixels from “Million Dollar Homepage” (which still exists!)
- Under construction web pages were the norm
- Office was a self-contained application suite on a CD-ROM, no online collaboration, no web apps.
- “I know HTML” was something people would say as a selling point
A lot has changed since then, and I’ve been there for the ride, including having my own YouTube channels, websites, game servers and forums.
But enough about me, I’ve recently heard that quite a lot of content on the web now is from bots and it has sometimes led me to ask the question “where did all the people go?”, as I’ve grown up in an age where getting the first link on Google (SEO optimising a website, keywords, backlinks, mobile friendly and page load times) would all influence the direction of content producers.
Maybe I’m an old man yelling at the digital cloud now, but I thought I’d put my creative itch to a somewhat productive use, warts and all.
